Mushroom in White Sauce

Cooking time: 15 min | Difficulty level: Easy

Ingredients:
1 cup sliced button mushrooms
1 cup sliced bell peppers (capsicum)
1 tbsp. unsalted butter
1 tbsp. all purpose flour (maida)
1 cup milk
1/4 cup grated cheese
1/2 tsp. crushed black pepper
1/2 tsp. Italian herb seasoning (optional)
salt to taste

Method:
  1. In a skillet, melt the butter on low flame. Add the mushrooms and bell peppers and sauté them till the mushrooms shrink in size and turn light brown. Take them out and keep them aside.
  2. To the remaining butter in the skillet, add the flour mixed in a little milk to break the lumps. Cook this for a couple of minutes.
  3. Add the rest of the milk and cook while stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  4. Add the cheese, salt and black pepper and cook, stirring continuously till the cheese melts.
  5. Lastly, add the sautéed mushrooms and bell peppers and simmer for a minute before taking off the stove.
  6. Garnish with some Italian herb dressing (optional).
Serve hot with bread or rice.
